I just finished China Miéville's The Last Days of New Paris (2016) that is an alternate history of WW II where the Surrealist Collective, La Main à Plume, leads the resistance against the Nazi occupation of Paris (and were various Surrealist artworks come to life as "manifs" (manifestations) after an explosion of the "S-Bomb". I'd also recommend his "Kraken" (2010) about a group that "kidnaps" the giant squid in the Natural History Museum (London).
