A Perfect Ganesh

A Perfect Ganesh by Terrence McNally (February 14-17, 2008). A very well done production of an interesting, but deeply flawed play. The production, at The Catholic University of America, was Matt Ripa's MFA thesis. The four cast members were excellent. Whalen J. Laurence (Ganesh) was a standout in an Ganesh mask and green body paint. Erin O'Keefe (Margaret) and Alyssa Hayek (Katharine) did excellent work as the American women traveling to India (Hayek in particular carried off the role of a much older women!). Matt Dewberry had the tricky roll of "Man" playing everything from New York airport ticket agent to surly Indian room service waiter.

The staging, a three quarters box built on the stage of Hartke Theatre, allowed the bleacher style seating of a full house.

Cast, crew and director all are to be commended.
