Meeting some of the residents at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute (four legged and winged types)

Had a nice tour of the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute yesterday. Got to see what a conservation animal breeding facility looked like. Much different from a zoo (as you might expect). We got to see a number of animals in our couple mile, 90 minute tour of the facility.

We didn't get to see the Cloud Leopards and only had a glimpse of the cheetahs (as it was breeding season). Saw the rare Black Footed Ferret compound (but none of the creatures). A good selection of cranes, some very friendly Scimitar-Horned Oryx, a number of Przewalski's Horse, the National Zoo's retired bison pair, and the Maned wolf.
