Quote of the Day: "All through the day I me mine, I me mine, I me mine"

2013.05.08 Let It Be.

All through the day I me mine, I me mine, I me mine.
All through the night I me mine, I me mine, I me mine.
Now they're frightened of leaving it
Everyone's weaving it,
Coming on strong all the time,
All through the day I me mine
- George Harrison

Today is the 43rd anniversary of the release of The Beatles' Let It Be album. Let It Be was, of course, a curious album, not quite a live set, and not new (having been mostly recorded earlier, well before Abbey Road. That, plus the controversial Phil Spector "Wall of Sound" additions and you have to say, well, let it be.

The earlier mixes of the album, then called Get Back, were mixed by Glyn Johns and are frequently bootleged. These versions, with longer versions of some songs, are quite interesting. Also, if you want to hear what Paul McCartney (or at least what he was thinking 30 years later) thought it might sound like, you can check out the official Let It Be... Naked (2003).

Though full of classics, I've always liked "Two of Us" and "I Me Mine".
